new technology

Learning about new technology seems good in lots of ways, for instance, I can see keeping a blog updated with pictures and thoughts and happenings because this could be shared with someone far away. Or even just communicating with pictures in an account on Flickr, then someone could see what you're up to. But some of the things, like Site Pal seem silly to me. I wouldn't want a talking cartoon on my site, but I can see where it would be fun for some to create such a thing. I have a hard time justifying time spent on something like that when I'd rather be reading, or talking on the phone to my daughters and friends.
